Boy was I glad to get out for the day. I was glad to be off the farm, and here working Streaks. I wasn't running around with the other stable hands like a chicken with its head cut off, cause Matt was gone, and he was gone for good. There was just to much stress there. They were looking at me, asking me what to do, like that have chosen me to be there leader. Word has probably gone around by now that Matt left town. I wonder who all has heard.
But a part of me doesn't like to be here. I was away from Bella, and she needed me. With all that's going on she was bound to go nuts, trying to do workouts, help out with the horses, socialize the foals, take care of Lizzie, and take care of herself. She didn't need the stress of all that. It was bad on the baby. I sighed and shook my head. Don't worry about that right now. I thought to myself.
Patience my boy. Patience. I said as the bay colt pawed the ground furiously. We were waiting on the track for Sam and Tim to show up and Streaks was tired of waiting, but he was also hyped up about racing his brother again. I glanced at my watch, wondering where they were.

You know it's bad when you are late at your own barn. But it was pretty hectic here. All but two horses were in the Spring Cup and one of the horses not entered in the Spring Cup was entered in another race that was on the same week at the Spring Cup. Lovely timing, I tell ya'.
There's an old saying that goes: "I'm so busy, I'm not sure if I found a rope or lost a horse." I'd never thought I could understand that saying anymore then right now.
Mind giving me a leg's up? I asked over my shoulder to Jake (J), who came along to see the two twin brothers go at it. I lifted my leg and held the impatient Tim with one hand in the reins.
Jake (J) nodded and in one swift move I was up on the hyper colt. I quickly got my feet in the stirrups and sent him off trotting to the track. Sorry! I'm running late! The beginning is never exciting anyway! I said over my shoulder to Jake (J) and Ipo (she simply followed Jake (J), stating to have nothing better to do but I suspected she had a different motive).
I heard a muffled 'no problem!' from behind me and pushed Tim on. He was excited to be able to trot from the barn to the stables and acted like it was a special treat to him. Don't get use to it, I mumbled to my prized colt. He didn't seem to take note of this.
I slowed him as we came down the slopping hill to the track and forced him to walk as we came to the small incline up that followed and finally onto the turf track. It wasn't hard to spot or find Jake and Streak as Tim was headed straight towards his brother eagerly. Hey! I said smiling. Sorry I'm late! We're a little busy up there. Everyone in the barn is racing and I'm a little low on jockeys, I said with a small, embarrassed laugh. Ok, so the last bit was a lie. I had all the jockeys I needed but I felt as if someone out there could always do better with any horse I didn't particularly like.
Tim nickered excitedly to his brother and extended his nose to sniff his brother's lighter nose. I sneaked a quick glance back to see Ipo and Jake (J) starting to come down the shallow slope before I returned my gaze to Jake... Er, I mean Streak's rider/Jake.
Great- now there are two Jakes!
((My Jake will be followed with a (J) for his last name, Jones, so you readers can keep track ^.^))

I smiled. Its okay. I understand. I said, giving a small smile. Streak eagerly pranced, than reached out to stiff his brother's nose. He snorted and pawed the ground before pulling away. His head rose, looking at the the figures making there way towards the track. His ear's flickered, and he gave a loud high pitched whinny. I looked at him, wondering what he was calling/whinny too. Its this way mommy! Lizzie hollered back to her mother as she ran ahead, following the directions one of the stable members gave her. As she reached the top of the slope, Lizzie looked down and squealed, seeing the track. Come on mommy! She said whining. She skipped down the path towards the track, wide grin on her face. Lizzie, honey wait! Bella said in a firm voice, a bit frustrated her daughter was running ahead. Bella quickly caught up with her daughter. They made there way down to the track, and went to a part of the rail, and stood there. Look mom there is Streakie Lizzy said and pointed at the lighter bay. Wow. What are they doing here? I thought they were.... Never mind. I smiled and gave a small waved to Bella and Lizzie. I wanted to go over there and see them but it could wait till we are done. So what are we going to do today? Mock race? I said with a small smile. Maybe we could steal the spotlight.

Sam's POV I turned to the squeal to see a small child running full steam at the track. Ipo jumped rather violently when the child yelled something at her mother as she ran past her. I stared at the child for a moment but I didn't recognize her. The mother soon followed and I finally recognized her as Bella. We have an audience today, I observed as Ipo and Jake (J) settled gingerly beside the mother and daughter on the rail. Ipo looking less pleased about being so close to the child. It was strange. She struck me as a girl that would like kids with how often she jokes around...
I turned my gaze back to Jake and nodded. Ten furlong, I said, nodding towards it. Tim is in the Spring Cup so a nice mock race of that would be grand. Tim snorted as I turned him away from his brother. Normal work out good for you? I asked as I sent Tim into a walk, though I had him walk around Streaks while waiting for my reply.
Ipo Such a nice day for a race. It was a little on the cold side but the sun was blazing warmly on my jacket. I could feel it's pleasant rays warming the fabric against my skin. The wind rustled my hair ever so lightly, a little chilly but not too bad. The birds sang proudly in the- AH! WHAT THE HECK!?
The squeal made me jump nearly a foot in the air. The scamper of little feet only confirmed my suspicious.
Children.
It wasn't that I hated kids. It just I wasn't a kid-person. There were a few kids I liked, but the others just were too noisy. I decided years ago I would never have a child myself. Everyone always says I'll change my mind but nope. I don't want a kid.
Jake (J) laughed beside me as the mother bustled by. Ah, he said. The joys of being a mother.
What joys? I grumbled back.
He again just laughed as I followed him down to the rail. We settled beside the mother and daughter and I quickly slipped in front of Jake (J) and took his spot so he had to stay closest to the child. I didn't care if the mother noticed. My sensitive ears simply weren't a fan of loud noises. Nonetheless I could tell that Jake (J) sent the mother an apologetic smile for me.

Jake I smiled glancing over at Lizzie and Bella. I looked back at Sam. Oh, Streak is in there the Spring Cup too. I said patting Streak's neck. The colt snorted and shifted his weight from one side to other, getting bored of just standing around. 10 furlongs. That's fine I said with a smile. Sam and Tim started to walk around us. Yeah, that's fine. I said and nudged the colt into a walk, making sure Sam and Tim weren't in the way, and started to walk down the track. I waited till Sam started to warm up Tim before I started our warm up.
Bella Two unknown people came up to the rail, stood next to us. One seemed to avoid us, but I didn't mind. It was probably cause of Lizzie. If I had a choice, I won't be around her myself. Well at least not right now.... She's too wild, and hyper. Who is that other horse and person? Lizzie asked me, pointing at Tim and Sam. Its not nice to point at people. I said a bit sternly. Lizzie gave me a innocent look. Sorrie She whispered, looking at the ground. I looked at Tim and Sam, then Matt and Streak. The dark one there is Tim, and his rider is Sam. Tim is Streaks twin brother. I said, avoiding not to point but out of habit I wanted too. Streak has a brother? Lizzie said, looking wide eyed at Tim and Sam. Wow.. She said, just amazed. Oh what it takes to amaze the child. I shook my head and went back to watching the horses, as Lizzie just stared at the horses like she was hypnotized.

Sam I nodded and sent Tim of at a trot. His shoulders moved extravagantly and his neck arched into a nice curve. What a show off, I thought with a grin as we passed by our small audience. His tail tail gave a swish when we were pass the group of on-lookers and his head went up and his movements were more jerky.
I could only chuckle as I trotted him on.
Ipo I heard the mother and child idly chatting but paid little mind to it. Instead I concentrated on the horses. One horse trotted by in front of his. His hooves barely made any sound on the turf. His breath came out evenly and he seemed to glide between his strides- by the sound of it at least.
With a light nudge at Jake (J) to grab his attention, I asked What's going on?
They are just warming up. I'm betting they'll race ten furlongs, Jake (J) replied as he leaned his forearms onto the railing. That's the Spring Cup distance, he added quickly, explaining his information.
I only nodded and I too leaned onto the rail, intent on listening in on how sound and smooth each horse sounded. By pure luck, I heard no distant thunder of hooves on the track. The two brothers got the track to themselves for the moment at least.

Jake I nudged the colt off into a trot. Streak snorted and pushed forward eagerly, ready to work. He, unlike his brother, didn't do anything fancy to show off. I guess he thought he was beautiful the way he was. We trotted pass the crowd, and trotted down the track. We trotted for around 15mintues, before I cued him to canter. The colt arched his powerful neck and went into a smooth canter.
Bella Momma what they doing? Lizzie whispered, acting like she had something to hide. I looked at her, eye brow raised. They are just warming up first, then they race... I whispered back. I leaned against the rail watching as Tim trotted by. My was he handsome and one heck of a race horse. I heard he was grade three . Streak still had a little catching up to do. Lizzie grabbed hold of the rail, and kind of just hang there, watching as the horses trotted by. Wild child.

Sam Tim continued to trot easily. One, two. One, two. One, two, I counted off in my head to the beating of his legs. They danced in duets, each with it's diagonal, twin colored leg.
After roughly fifteen minute, I spotted Streaks picking up a canter. Soon I urged Tim as well into a canter. His body rocked into it, his body acting more like a powerful locomotion then just some Thoroughbred colt. Today, he was concentrating. He seemed to be just as tired as I of him losing by a hair. It seemed as though his silly antics were put to a grinding stop. At least for some time.
Jake J I listened in on the kid jabbering away. I smiled and watched as she hung from the railing. Cute kid, I commented. Ipo stabbed me in the ribs with her elbow. I yelped and glared at her. For a blind girl, she had a good aim. I knew what she wanted to say though. Don't communicate with it!
Ipo wasn't a shy girl. She just didn't like talking to new people. She certainly had no problem speaking her mind publicly. I had always joked that she just had problems making new friends. She normally commented back that I had no friends so obviously I did too. (And normally that conversation would end with me protesting that she was my friend then her giving a hoot of laughter and normally following with 'aw, that's cute. You think we are friends') Though I would beg a differ. I got plenty of friends!
Like these people for example!
I turned back to the mother and daughter, ignoring Ipo silent and violent protest. What's her name? I asked- mostly to piss off Ipo but being nice to the other stable owners would probably pay off well in the end.

Jake A The colt tossed his hand playfully as we came to the 10 furlong marker. I gave a light tug on the reins, slowing the colt down to a walk, walking him in a circle, waiting for Sam and Tim to finish.
Bella Ummm Thanks I said a bit uneasy, not really like a strange comment on my child. Just seemed weird. Well from a guy it is, but if it was from a women it won't be as bad, but still weird, at least to me. I gave the man a strange look, when he made a yelp kind of noise. I was wondering why in till I noticed him looking over at the women... She must have done something, I figured. I looked back towards Streak and Tim, in till the man started to speak again. Her name is Lizzie I said and smiled. When I said Lizzie, the little blond girl dropped to the ground with a thud and looked up at us. Yes? She said thinking we called her.
